Last night I bought the Maxtor 120GB 8mb cache harddrive at my local Best Buy for $199.99 with a $70 mail in rebate, net cost $129.99 + tax. Well I got the bright idea this morning to call Office Depot and see if they would price match BestBuy so I wouldn't have to mess with the $70 mail in rebate (I absolutely hatem). The Office Depot store manager agreed to PM at $129.99 so I went to BestBuy to refund the Maxtor drive before I went to Office Depot to get the PM.

BestBuy told me they would price match + 10% Office Depots PM and lowered my price by $83.35 from $216.49 to $133.14 (8.25% sales tax included) AND I STILL GET THE $70 REBATE! Net cost after rebate for the Maxtor 120gb 8 mb cache drive for me will be $63.14 including tax(8.25%) :Q

Best Buy sale ends on Saturday I believe, it's worth a shot if you need a new HD!

 
So you got Best Buy to PM not another store's price, but rather that store's PM to Best Buy???

This is a bit beyond "YMMV."

If you think this deal can be duplicated, by all means, buy 5 for me. I'll be happy to pay you extra.

You must have the nicest managers in the entire company... at two stores!!!

I can already imagine the managers laughing at me if I tried to do that here.

Thanks...... yea this might be a little hard to duplicate, but like I said if you gonna buy a new hard drive anyway it's worth a shot... ya never know...

Seriously, I couldn't get the OD manager to drop his price on those HP USB keyboards that everyone else got for $1.88 - I paid over $5 bucks. If I tried this on him, he'd beat me with a hammer!

Yeah lets hope some newbie tries it on some newbie manager and gets it. Its a crazy world anything can happen.
 
A scan of the receipt just won't do. I need you to send me the hard drive, and all of your original paperwork - and while we're at it, might as well put in your credit card too. I'll be waiting.........😀
 
I don't want to point out which stores I could probably get away with it but with a receipt, it's worth a try. I've had some great luck lately.
 
Sorry guys can't scan the reciept, credit card info is on there and even if I blacked out the pertainent info my transaction could still be retrieved from Best Buys computers with my CC info on it. Just to paranoid to do that, sorry.. .🙁
 
then black out the transaction number.

Once it's on that receipt, they can't make you pay for it, if you are worried about them hunting you down and making you pay.

But seriously, price matching a price match? Man, tell us what store this is at so we can have a field day with that manager. 😉
 
I wonder if you get Office Depot to PM first them use the receipt at BB to get them to PM. I don't think OM describes a PM in their receipt.
 
Hell, while we're at it, let's have best buy price match the price match, with 10%, take it to OD and have them price match match, then have best buy price match match match! ENDLESS CYCLE!! WHOO!



In any case, I'm hoping for some sort of receipt scan before I even think about trying this.
 
IF a receipt does not show up, will a MOD please delete this thread? This is a very useless thread with no real evidence. This could be a lie for all we know. If you do decide to post a receipt scan, you could edit out all the stuff you are worried about and nothing will be traced back to you. I've done this several times here to help people out.
 
Good GOD! Just a few months ago it was all about the "$1 per gigabyte" rule, and now we're getting close to "2GB per dollar"!!!

...but I'm not complaining! 😎
 
Let's just give the guy a break...IMHO, Lantano, this was a great post. While maybe not usable (except secretly) by the "elite" among us, someone (like you obviously did) might get lucky.
Don't let the crappers ruin you day, however, I gurdgingly suppose they must be allowed their say.

I'd say that this is an inovative approach to simply store, and use when the opportunity presents itself. For some it could be tomorrow, for some, it could be a cold day in hell. (moderators, please note the use of the lowercase "H" used in the aforeunmentionable.)😱
