Dead/Bad LiteOn burner?

I own a 6 month old LiteOn SOHC-5232K burner (52x combo drive).

Lately when I attempt to burn a CD in Nero it just freezes at 6%, without ever writing to the media. So the media is usable in my slower DVD burner.

Any solutions to what I can do to fix this problem?

These are the troubleshooting / solutions I have tried so far.

1. Updated firmware to latest version, NK0E
2. Updated Nero to the latest version, 6.3.1.25
3. Tried 4 different media brands: TDK, Memorex, Ritek & HP
[edit]4. Tried different speeds from 24x up to the drive's max speed 52x

Haven't tried a different burning program. However it fails to burn CD images, Audio discs and just regular data discs, no matter what size.

This is a retail drive that I purchased from Newegg back in February 04 when I finished building my new system. Drive worked flawlessy up until a few weeks ago.

Thanks guys,

Yvo

Any strange noises or error messages? I had a Liteon burner die at 11 months old (whew, just inside warranty). When I tried to burn it would spin up and spin down continuously, then finally fail, sometimes with the error "power calibration failed". I think power calibration is before writing lead-in. If you see "writing lead-in" and then "writing data" it's a different problem from mine, but still sounds like a dying drive.
