I have used both. The Neo, has a fan only connector on the psu. Be careful with it though. I hooked up 1 too many 120mm fans to it and it popped a cap (= user error).

These are both powerful psu's and did a fine job for me under heavy usage....

notice that LordGestle reports different connectors from what the docs you (so thoughtfully) linked. there seems to be a new revision(?) i was interested in that.

Cables that were included in the version from outpost:

2 PCI-E Cables
1 Adapter Molex to 2 Floppy Connectors
2 Sata Cables (2 connectors per cable)
2 Molex Cables (3 connectors per cable)
2 Molex Connectors to add to a cable
2 Sata connectors to a add to a cable.

Attached Cables
1 24 Pin Mobo Cable. This cable can seperate for a legacy 20+4 configuration.
1 4 Pin Mobo connector
1 Fan RPM Sensor

I owned the newer rev Antec Neo 480watt and it was good
I just snagged a NIB neoHE 500 for $65shipped.

Does anybody know if there is any difference?

edit: damn I found out that there are problems with the NeoHE :(

thanks a lot for the details :D i got in on the asus a8n-sli deluxe so i'm starting to accumulate parts for my next upgrade. i wanted to get up to 600w (tpiii or s12) but this fits the budget.

This one is modular but the Truepower has more wattage and alot of good reviews at newegg.

Edit: This is the PSU I am referring to:
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16817103931

it stacks up nicely.

does anyone actually trust newegg reviews? they filter out non-profitable reviews... they even state in their disclaimer.

I just received the Neo 480 (ordered last night at 11:01 Eastern time via ground shipping! :Q ) and it's exactly as LordGestle described. I hope it is as good as advertised (I love the Antec PS in my Sonata case).

Thanks LordGestle! :D

great psu at a great price--I have been using one for over 1 year. One potential downside is the lack of a 8-pin 12-v connector that some newer MB's require (such as ASUS's nF500's and P965).

i don't get one thing... aren't there too many cables? how many output sockets are there (i read 4 from the specs)? will it accomodate the following setup?

- 4x sata hd (2 outputs sockets?)
- 2x nvidia sli (2 outputs sockets?)
- 2x pata hd (1 output socket?)
- 2x dvd (1 output socket?)
- 1x floppy

thanks ~

there are more cables than sockets, so you can't fit all of them. The kit does include additional SATA and Molex conncectors that you can add to the cable. Depending on what VGA's you use, it may not be adequate for SLI, esp with 6 HD's.

While that is listed in the manual, the unit that I received did not have extra connectors. I'm curious as to what else is different about this unit than previous "standard" (non-high efficiency models) NEOPower 480 models.

you mean the unit you received was a "high efficiency" unit? I don't see a HE 480W listed by Antec. If you look at LordGestle's post above, his kit also had the 4 extra connectors.

No, it's not the high efficiency unit. I have not opened the bundle of cables up yet so they may be in there. Would be a pain to install the extra connectors in-line onto the original cables with the sleeving installed. Will check when I get home as it may be bundled up.

they are snap-on connectors you install over the non-sleeved portion of the wires between the connectors that are already on the cable. Piece of cake.

The extra connectors are in the cable package. It may be hard to see them since they are in 2 little plastic bags.

thanks for trying to be helpful. i was only concerned about having adequate connectors. does it have adequate connectors for the following, given there is limited number of output sockets? i don't want to have to buy splitters or extra cables... especially considering all of it is sleeved.

- 4x sata hd
- 2x nvidia sli
- 2x pata hd
- 2x dvd
- 1x floppy

you can spare me the details, a simple yes or no will do. thanks ~

so i did some research and it looks like this won't do the setup i had in mind. if running SLI, you can't use all of the power connectors -- so either SLI or tons of hard drives. i suppose i could lose SLI.

Are the cables sleeved in black? I seem unable to find this out anywhere online. I am assuming they would be given that the ATX cable was sleeved in black.

Thanks for the reply. Well, I'm in for one. This is a great price. I figured I had better jump in if I am going to get one as good deals just don't last. I am wanting to go to a black sleeved PSU as I am building a new case and currently have a Fortron Blue Storm. I like the idea of modular lines as well.

Has anyone tried this PSU in P180? I just jumped on the deal on Outpost's P180 deal and was wondering if the cables are long enough to be manipulated for it. Especially if you were to hide the cables behind the motherboard tray.

Thanks in advance for any input.

The cables are very long, I wouldn't doubt they would work in the P180 (never used that case though, just speaking from past experience with big cases and seeing these). Think enermax style cables :D
