So Microcenter has slashed prices on all of their Ryzen cpu's and you still get $30 off any motherboard with purchase.

Here's the best deals right now:

AMD Ryzen 5 1600 3.2GHz 6 Core AM4 Boxed Processor with Wraith Spire Cooler $149.99

http://www.microcenter.com/product/..._AM4_Boxed_Processor_with_Wraith_Spire_Cooler

AMD Ryzen 7 1700 Summit Ridge 3.0 GHz 8 Core AM4 Boxed Processor with Wraith Spire Cooler $199.99

http://www.microcenter.com/product/..._AM4_Boxed_Processor_with_Wraith_Spire_Cooler

AMD Ryzen 7 1800X 3.6 GHz 8 Core AM4 Boxed Processor $299.99

Great prices but available only in-store. :)

Sometimes I wish I lived close to a Micro Center to get these amazing deals, but then at the same time, I'd likely be a lot more broke because I would go there way too often.

These CPU prices (and the 8600k in the other thread) are nice.

Sweet! Great deal on the 1700, to get yourself into an 8C/16T desktop CPU. Not bad on either other ones either. (I'm pretty sure I paid $219.99 for my first Ryzen 5 1600 CPU from Newegg. Now you can get two more cores for the same price, at MC!)

if only I had a really good friend (trusting one)...that lived next to a MC, and wouldn't mind shipping me a little box to hawaii every so often! :D

You might want to look again at the prices. When MC puts their CPUs on sale, and then gives another $30 off if you buy a motherboard, that's very tough to beat. Even with the sales tax, you will not find that online. I know sometimes they aren't much cheaper, and even around the same price.

For example, the Ryzen 1700x is $239.99 and the 1700 is $219.99. Outside of Refurbforless (when they have a coupon) on Ebay, link to any legit retailer where you can buy if for less. Because all I see are the 1700x at $299.99 and the 1700 for $288+.

I bought my 1700X and Gigabyte AB350 at MC for 229.99 and 49.99. After another 20.00 rebate, it was 30.00 for the MB. Crazy... Other stuff, not so good- they never have good prices on video cards but no one really does these days.

Not even close.

Besides, you are supposed to pay tax on every online order you do. Check your state tax forms. :p

You've got to pay sales tax on that stuff too, and every online retailer I've used includes it in your price. The ability to browse and easily return stuff makes Microcenter the place to be.

Expect further / continued deep discounts on first-gen Ryzen CPUs, now that Ryzen 2000-series (2nd-gen) is right around the corner.

Last time I bought a combo at MC the $ off also applied to open box and returns, made for a cheap total.

I'm thinking of buying the 1700 or 1800 since I pass MC on the way home from work... Though if I did buy they would just collect dust until I gradually purchase everything else for a new build. Anyone monitored the prices enough to know if this is about as low as can be expected for quite a while?

Edit: Looks like the 1800 was $319 back during BF. Looks like I will be making a purchase on the way home from work

I bought my 1700X for 229.99 in dec. Not sure it will get back to that price, but the 1700 is that price today. It's a really good deal since they OC pretty easily to 1700X speeds. The 30.00 off on a MB bundle is also a really good reason to buy there.

Yeah I went to Microcenter and bought the Asus Hero MB with the 1700. Also picked up the rest of the items needed for a whole new machine... who knew I would be spending about 1500 bux today ;)

Prices just fell again and updated the OP. $149.99 for the Ryzen 1600? Wow! :)
Now that's some REAL VALUE right there. Cheaper than an i5-7400 Kaby Lake, and almost as cheap as a i3-8100 Coffee Lake quad-core without HT, but you get SIX CORES and SMT!

I'm still rocking my R5 1600 CPUs, they are GREAT CPUs! :)

(And as I just learned, they kick (butt) at F@H CPU processing too.)

Edit: This is most likely a fire-sale clearance on these first-gen Ryzen 1000-series CPUs, as the 2000-series APUs are out, and the 12nm 2000-series (higher clocks!) will be out in a month or two.

Still, those will debut at list price, so you're saving $50-70 off of that (plus mobo discount!), for buying a first-gen 1600, rather than a 2600 or 2600X.

If you're buying for gaming, you might want to wait for the 2000-series CPUs, as the added frequency headroom will help with single-threaded game engines a lot, but for basic productivity or video-editing, the 1000-series are more than fine.

I've only been able to visit MC once in my life when I went to Phoenix for a concert and everything inside the store was incredibly overpriced. They wanted $130 for an Antec 900 case and $90 for a Logitech G502...

Edit: I've never been to a MC. I was thinking about Fry's Electronics.

Some stuff is, or used to be in past years, overpriced. Like GPUs. But on the whole, doing an entire system build at MC, can be economical. Their CPU or CPU+mobo combo prices are generally loss-leaders to get people into the store. If you can restrain yourself, and ONLY pick those up when you go to MC, those trips can be profitable.

I'm just glad that we do have MicroCenter stores around, even if they are sort of few and far between.

The closest Micro Center to Phoenix is in Denver.

Oh [REDACTED]. I was thinking about Fry's. Guess I've never been to a Micro Center then. Sorry about that. The only tech store we have where I live in Best Buy so in essence, we don't have a tech store here.

I thought that was probably the case. I was worried for a second that we got a Micro Center out here and nobody told me.
