I was looking @ the 2800+ and i noticed that if you bought the abit kv8 motherboard you save 82 dollars! the total i paid for the combo 198. im not planning on overclocking, and this will tide me over till technologies such and socket 939 and nf3 250 becomes more mature. im hoping the next revision of nf3 gets ncq. gl on getting this combo. tell me what you think

Not very far.... i think you can get 219 or so... but thats it... on boards with working AGP/PCI locks, you can get MUCH higher....

OOS damn! Newegg usually restocks quickly though. Hopefully this deal will live though

I signed up for auto-notification for the restock of the abit mobo (after reading about the $223 deal in another thread and that the ABit was OOS), and got an email around 9:00 am friday, and ordered it a couple hours later... too bad for everyone who didn't get a chance to get in on this.

The Chaintech mobo is still available.

Yes, the Chaintech is back in stock for now. BUT, NE is automatically adding far cry when you add the MB and CPU to your cart. This bumps the price up by $25 to $223 again.

This is tempting, but how much of an upgrade is it from my current 2.0Ghz oc to 2.5GHz northwood P4, I mostly play games.

Thats part of the Farcry promotion Newegg is doing. The price of Farcry should be deducted, so its saves you $25....if you want farcry. If you go to the hompage look to the left and you'll see the pricing for the different combos.

This thread was for their special "$223 Feature Combo" where NE did not add Far Cry to the bundle for a short time which checked out at $198. I think it was a mistake on NE's part and when they saw this thread they realized the error and fixed it. Technically, yes, Far Cry is free in the $223 bundle but if you didn't need Far Cry then the $198 bundle was a better deal. If the Abit MB comes back in stock I might still get it and sell FC to a friend since I already have it.

For gaming the A64 2800+ seems to score slightly below P4 3.0ghz and above the older athlon XP3200+

If you like overclocking you may want to hold out for another mobo, both the Abit and Chaintech are based on the VIA K8T800 chipset (non-pro) and have no PCI/AGP lock severly limiting the ability to up the fsb.

Curse Hot Deals! I'm going to have to pick this bundle up when Newegg gets the motherboard back in stock.

bah, that would have saved me the trouble of selling Far Cry (NFR, hah). Only a couple $$ difference anyways.

I <3 my new 64-bit system. Too bad there's so few 64-bit drivers available for the free eval WinXP 64-bit so far. This could be a WinME debacle all over again (mpd's rocky start).

OK this makes me mad :(.

I jumped on the Chaintech SK8T800 and Athlon 64 2800+ Bundle for $223 on Wednesday, and now i can get the Abit board and this for less? Im mad.

Oh, and the 2800 is always above or equal to the 3.2 p4 in games.

This happened to me, too. I checked with newegg, and if you RMA return it, after the 15% restocking fee, you get back $226, and you get to keep FarCry. You lose couple of dollars for having to send it back, but you dont have to have the chaintech and you get farcry, the abit, and the a64 for 198 when all is said and done =)
Assuming that the abit comes back in stock
