Seems New Egg has caught on to Micro Center and there terrific deals on CPUs. In terms of a combo vs buying the CPU at MC then the MB at New Egg, the New Egg combo on the CPU + Motherboard still comes in cheaper. And I haven't found the same motherboard at MC.

This deal is aimed at people INTERESTED in this motherboard... if you are not interested spare the reviews and opinions.

Combo 344.98 Free shipping with Super Eggsaver.

I remember reading that New Egg was getting hip to the Micro Center deals. It might of been your thread. Seems I almost wrote what you did word for word, lol

Yesterday when I looked Newegg had the Intel Core i5-3470 for $149 after one deducted the $50 promo gift card....Maybe a typo as the gift card was dropped to $10 today when I just looked, which makes it the normal $189 at Newegg.

If I were to buy this combo would I still need a dedicated GPU for normal everyday use as a non-gaming machine? I don't watch TV on it, although I might one day with my TV tuner card.. only drawback is no PCI option.

No, the Intel HD4000 integrated graphics will work fine, and the motherboard has several different outputs: vga, dvi, and hdmi.

If I can end up using it as a daily rig without the need for a PCI slot I might end up going with this if Haswell is an 'Oh-well' deal.. i'm waiting to see how well it overclocks... among other things

if you need ram this may be a little better. sam cpu same board plus ram for 387 it also mentions a 20 $ rebate the rebate is on the ram. so this would be just a little better if you need ram the net for ram would be 33 dollars after the ram rebate.

Thanks, I could just re-use the RAM from my current i7 920 rig, I think it's a DDR 3 2000 Elpdia Hyper kit.. but it's 1.65v they were noted as kits that would die relatively fast, well it's relatively been since 2009 :D has a low CAS too, and will do CL6.6.6.18 @ 1600Mhz
