I picked up my order in store earlier today. The chips on the DIMM are "VT"

The printing on each chip looks like...
___
\ / || VT3225804T-75
\/ || 2A 0308

The Ascii art came out alot better in the text box, sorry.

Rebate is not from K-Byte, its from Microcenter. Anyway, you too huh, i got a strip of K-Byte ram from Best Buy, too. Never got my rebate check. Called them up, said UPC bar not enclosed with claim. How the heck can u lose the UPC when its stapled to the rebate form?

Got another RAM, Kingston from Best Buy. Same thing, missing UPC. This one was stapled and scotch taped up to the form. They got my envelope and form, but no rebate.

They are a joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I bought some more Kbyte sdram, with rebate, last month. A Staples deal with a Staples rebate. I would't touch it otherwise.

Low quality ram. The sdram I received had 6 month old off-brand chips on it. It does run ok in a secondary system.

wait, i take it back. Even though this rebate is from Microcenter, the rebate furfillment center is rebatestatus. Both of my RAM rebate went there. There is a 100% (based from my experience) chance of having your UPC lost.

Good luck

Lost UPC? I always photocopy my rebate forms including the UPC code. Once had the envelope returned saying the UPC was not included (it was still in the envelope). I called them up, explained that I had a copy of the UPC code, receipt, completed rebate form, and stamped addressed envelope. I faxed it to them, and got my rebate in 4 days. A little extra work, but it can pay off. I wonder if the 'lost upc code' scam is a policy directed by the company, or maybe the employees have a way of redeeming these for themselves?

Yes or No. Depends on your setup. First, do you have win 95/98/ME? If so, you will have to change windows settings to ignore the additional RAM, or face problems such as slow down or BSOD on startup. There's a number of MS knowledge base articles on this. If you have linux, win 2k/NT4/XP its not a problem.

Second: Are you using PC2100 in there now at PC2100 speeds? If your crucial is PC3200 and your motherboard runs the memory at PC3200 speeds, yes this will slow it down. Otherwise, no, if everything is PC2100 speeds, no slowdown... unless the third part is true.

Third: Is your crucial all CL 2.5 and is this CL 2.5? If the CL speeds match and both of the above points dont apply to you then no, no slowdown.

Finally: If you are ok about the previous 3 points, nope, should be fine! :)

There is another way to make this deal even sweeter if you have a local Microcenter. Take a copy of the webpage and your microcenter receipt and pricematch at Officemax. They also have a $15 rebate and a $17 rebate, bringing your price down to $.99 plus tax after the rebates....:)
I did this last night and I know of other people that have done the same deal....:)

also, PM to staples with their 30 MIR, not as hot as the office max, but still pretty good if you don't have an office max near you

i was going to PM w/ staples, but now i think i'm going to try PM w/ office max, plus office max give 15% off for teachers, that will make this $2 and change in your pocket, SMOKING.....

devistater,

thanks for your reply.

i am running xp pro, my crucial are pc2100 at CL2.5

so are these KBYTE CL2.5 or 3?

Also, is there a noticeable differnce in going from 512 or 768 mg to 1 gig? I do alot of video authoring as well as video conversions.

I just got mine today, that was fast shipping!
Anyway, it looks cheap. Looks just like a PC133 (bare chips). I bought some PC2100 once that had a big copper heatsink on both sides.
Of course, who cares how it looks, right? I'll find out how well it works when I get my 2nd 256MB stick from another hot deal.
If it works, it works, and that's all that matters, at least to me.

After you placed your order was there a order number on the receipt page? If you call there support line it says to have your order number, I don't have mine because I accidentally closed my browser after it said your order has been received you should receive an e-mail in 24 hours.

I don't photocopy my rebate claims becuz its a waste of time to go to Kinkos. Instead, i take a digital picture of it with a digital camera.

word. if any problems arise, a quick phone call followed by a fax should clear it up. :)

I ordered at the last minutes and selected for store pickup. since it was so last minute, i had a feeling that the the local store would be OOS so i went to OM and did a price match. The manager wouldn't do the PM for me at first because it was too big of the difference. it took me a while to convice the manager that the price was not after rebate and she had no way to denie my PM because it's their policy. i was surprised that they had 115% PM policy which made the deal even sweeter.

final cost for the deal, a couple of dollars in my pocket

thanks

PS. just got an email from microcenter, they were OOS and cancelled my order.

Is this deal dead? It now shows $49.99 - $20 MIR = $29.99. Was it $32.99 before the rebate when you posted this?

E-mailed Microcenter last night about my not getting a confirmation e-mail. Received the following reply:

Your order was received in our system and shipped on 3/12/03. I am unsure why you did not receive your emails as our system shows they went out at 8:03am (confirmation) and 10:43am (order shipped) yesterday. If you have a bulk senders folder your messages may be in that folder. You order was shipped via USPS. Please allow 5 to 7 business days for deliver.

Thank You,

I don't have a bulk folder or any e-mail filters. I think perhaps my ISP's spam protection may have been over aggressive. Anyway, all is well it seems.
