This guy tested the eneloops in the freezer and had lower discharge than room temperature. Any one know if storage in a freezer would be OK?

"I just got a response, they are mailing me a (prepaid, I hope) USPS shipping label, and will give me a refund. It's funny, I had decided to just keep the batteries and forget about it if I didn't get an RMA. Good luck to the rest of you. "

I am glad to see them starting to step up to the plate and do the right thing. In my eyes this action will go a long way to start repairing the damage done. I glad to see they trying.

I guess people here, slickdeals, fatwallet, etc expect great stuff at great prices. I think these sites may have caused the problem with a flood of orders they could not handle. I do not mind a problem now and then with all the great deals people post on these sites.

I never did get a response to my second email after being promised a refund, so I have gone ahead and submitted the normal RMA form.. Here is what I wrote on the RMA form in the "Enter your problem description in the space provided below" box:

You sent me 6 cards of 4 NiMH 2600 mAh 1.2 AA batteries instead of the R2U batteries I ordered. I am assuming this was simply an error by your shipping department. I have noticed that the batteries I ordered are now out of stock. I am not interested in any of your other products at this time, nor am I able to wait to make an exchange at a later date.
Please let me know how you would like me to proceed with returning these batteries to you. May I suggest that you send me a call tag from UPS, or utilize a similar method of pre-paid freight so that you would be able to expedite my returning your batteries to you?

I have already corresponded with Lydia Del Real who informed me that you would accept the batteries for return-freight-paid refund but have been waiting for her response with further instructions.

I would like to now advance the RMA process so that I may return your batteries to you and receive my return-freight-paid refund as soon as possible.

Sincerely,
----------

I've talked to them and asked if they can give me some discount instead of me returning them. They said they would credit me $3. i guess that will cost them less than shipping new ones out and paying for return shipping. I have accepted and will be using these as soon as I am credited $3 ^_^

these should be enough for all my AA needs around the house.

I was getting ready to type "there is a whole bunch of people on the Anandtech forum that is going to be VERY upset once they receive different batteries than what they ordered. That's how I found out about this place." when I realized the idiot ended the chat very abruptly without warning. NOT COOL AT ALL!

I know you are upset but the guy seemed to be helpful. He was also going to pay for return shipping. Can you fault them for not taking back used batteries? He wasnt rude so maybe he X'd out by mistake or his computer crashed? I dunno just a thought.

How was he helpful? He was just towing the company line. I would have liked an, "I'm sorry our company screwed up; didn't email you about the backorder status of the 2300's, and not contacting you regarding if you would prefer the 2600's as a replacement, continue to wait for the 2300's to come back in stock or just cancell your order. We screwed up and as a show of faith for customer appreciation, we will eat the loss of the 2600's you did not order and will be sending out the 2300's ASAP." That is what I was expecting to hear. You are acting like he is doing me a favor for paying for return shipping? That is the LEAST they can do, and if they didn't do that I would have reversed the charges on my credit card.

You also note that he wasn't rude. I call any person that doesn't answer a question either rude for ignoring my question or a total jerk. He didn't explain WHY they substituted the batteries just using the "Most customers prefered the 2600s" bullcrap. I called him on it with the Eneloop comparison and that is when he abruptly ended the conversation.

You seem to be making excuses for this type of behavior. Are you an enabler or are you a liberal? Sounds like the same reasoning about having sympathy for a murderer by saying they had a "rough childhood" and didn't know any better. We need to show the murderer love and compassion and try to "understand" his feelings.

You are comparing wrong batteries to murderers? Quite the blanket statement. lol

I see you read way too much into a conversation as I said its "just a thought". No need to be a douche about it. He offered you a swap with prepaid return shipping, take it and be done with the place. Seems like most of the people that have ordered in the past have been happy with the customer service.

No I was comparing your excusing of the rude customer service as that of an enabler who makes excuses that their kid is always getting in trouble when it is the parent that raised that monster. And calling me a douche because I demand respect especially if I got screwed on a deal tells me a lot about YOU as a person. Only a total POS would excuse the wrongdoer over the real "victim" which is any of the AT buyers here. Do you work for All-Battery by chance?

update: their customer service was a bit slow, i'm guessing because everyone was complaining.
I got impatient and filed a paypal dispute anyway.

good news, i got my refund, and they say they will be mailing me a check for the return shipping i paid.
i probably should of did what most people did and waited for a return shipping label. Guess I was too impatient. Well, checks in the mail.

happy ending

I especially like you took a pro-active approach. Seems logical to cover your a$$ when it comes to shady companies like this.

I wonder how many orders they were hit with?

At least they are making an effort rather than shafting people completely.

UPDATE: After not having heard a peep for a couple of weeks regarding my two refund requests, an All-Battery internal email was forwarded to me which approved my refund. My CC has been refunded. I have yet to be sent an RMA number. It looks like I am being given twenty four free batteries for my inconvenience. I accept.

No, not a good idea. I have a La Crosse BC-900 and several other chargers, some faster than others but the only time I use other than the La Crosse is when it doesn't charge a cell because its voltage has dropped too low. In that case I get a bit of a charge on it and put it back in the La Crosse. Fast charging cells makes them wear out a lot faster. It's best to have extra cells on hand if you are in a hurry. If I need another cell, I reach for already charged extra cells rather than do a quick charge on depleted cells.

Just a FYI, you can jump start the La Crosse charger on a "NULL" cell by taking a small wire and touching the adjacent "+" terminal to the one with the NULL terminal for a few seconds (until it registers). Takes care of swapping chargers back and forth.

Is that safe to do and is there a risk of getting electrocuted doing that with the wire?

No shock hazzard that I know of (I've done this a dozen times and the voltage should be close to 1.5v or so) and it's been safe so far. It only introduces a voltage / current path from one area to another. Must hold for a few seconds to get it started otherwise it goes back to null.

They sent me a prepaid return shipping label about a week ago. I returned them, and just now got a refund notice from PayPal. I sort of feel sorry for All-Battery if in fact this was a mistake, but a "battery store" should know the difference between LSD cells and regular cells. It sure smelled like a bait-and-switch.

Anyway, MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL !!!

Well I'll throw in here - I've been using probably about half of them for a month now. They work pretty damn good. I have 4 Wiimotes that are fairly regularly used that are still above half as reported by the Wii. Numerous baby toys working well daily. Some other kids toys from Xmas still going (have 2 in D-Cell adapters for one of my son's toys). I'm happy with them. Now I just need a sufficient quantity of AAA LSD cells at a decent price, as well as a handful of C and D cell adapters.

I had an e-mail conversation about this with the all-battery customer service rep (Lydia Del Real) back when it happened. Probably many of you have a similar story. Anyway, I told her I specifically wanted the R2U variety, so she noted it on my order. I just logged into my account there, checked out the order, and found the following note on the base of the order:

"Customer Notes:
12/17 pls reship r2u when in stock LDR"

Anyway, according to the e-mail conversation, LDR told me the R2U batteries were on backorder for me. Backorder usually means is that as soon as they get them in stock, they will be sent out automatically (i.e. their order processing system knows it is still an order that must be fulfilled). So I think it's just a matter of waiting now.

In the e-mail conversation, their was no discussion of what to do with the regular 2600 mAh NiMHs they sent, but I have not opened them either. It would be a nice goodwill gesture on their part to just let us all keep them. Indeed, when you factor in the return shipping labels, all the necessary paperwork, and the actual restocking, etc., it's probably a wash just for them to let us keep them. At least I'm hoping that's the case.

It looks like the LSD batteries are back in stock. I received and email with a new tracking number. If you still have an open order, I would not cancel it now. The 16 AA pack is now $24.99. I think it is still a fair deal with free shipping, before it was a very hot deal if it was not for the waiting. I am glad they did not canceled the orders and then raised the price.

highpoint, did you get the regular 2600 mAh batteries as an unrequested substitute earlier on, and if so, do they say anything to you about returning them at this point?
