I deal in facts. I deal in science

Fairbanks spoke of his time eliminating back-country marijuana grows in the Utah mountains, specifically the environmental costs associated with large-scale weed cultivation on public land: "Personally, I have seen entire mountainsides subjected to pesticides, harmful chemicals, deforestation and erosion," he said. "The ramifications to the flora, the animal life, the contaminated water, are still unknown."

Hey asshole, if it wasn't illegal you wouldn't have nearly as many "gorilla grows" like that. Instead you would have "farms" that you can regulate the use of chemicals and prevent ecological damage like that.

One of them refused to leave us, and we took all the marijuana around him, but his natural instincts to run were somehow gone.

And an anecdotal story about a single fucking rabbit is all of a sudden "dealing in science and dealing in facts"? Maybe the growers were feeding it and it got used to being around humans, naw that can't be it. His use of "science and facts" led him directly to "these rabbits, err this rabbit, be getting fucked up and are hooked on weed".

2 things,

1. there are plenty of harmful illegal substances the DEA and other law enforcement can go after so they should not fear losing their jobs.
2. States need to stop legalizing the edible marijuana since it is much easier to overdose on than smoking it.

Can you link me stories about the massive amount of ODs from these edibles that would require banning them?

Just another case of "I can think of something bad that might happen if this particular change I don't like occurs. So since it's never right to evaluate the the desirability of a change by weighing its potential gains against its potential losses, we should consider only the potential bad things and thus never make any changes at all."
