Patranus already explained it. The problem is all the power these various agencies have without legislative/congressional approval.

But they are all for your own good, don't you know! We are here to protect you!

Moreover, because of the expansion of the commerce clause under FDR, the federal government can do this without a constitutional amendment.

Ever wonder why the constitution had to be amended to outlaw liquor but not weed?
(Hint: It starts with "the progress" and ends with "ives".)

He didn't say they could confiscate cars that aren't street legal. He mentioned street legal in his first sentence, but the second sentence, which you are questioning, he simply said "illegal". Just because a car is not street legal does not make it illegal altogether.

Ok, there are no illegal vehicles (beyond perhaps some sort of military vehicles). You can put whatever the hell you want on a trailer and drive it around in your private backyard.

But this has nothing to do with synthetic THC, which is rather potent btw.

Why does the DEA have the legal right to do this?

FDR > threatened to pack courts who had overruled all his unconstitutional BS > they crying uncle > gave him wild interpretations on commerce and general welfare clause to mean almost anything that was not prohibited by Constitution instead of enumerated as before > FDA was created which has statutory authority to tell you what you put in your body is safe for you or not safe and make illegal. This covers IR lasers too surprisingly enough which is why I had to make one and can not buy one legally.

Don't even act like Republicans arnt down with it. 99% of stuff congress passes of either party would not fly a century ago.
