DE or calc 3 after calc 2?

Some people have been recommending me to take DE after calc 2, and then calc 3 after that. They say it flows better that way. But my school's outline for me recommends calc 3 first.

What do you suggest?

Calc 3 is usually just vector calculus if I remember correctly, you'd probably be okay.

Calculus 3 was the class with multivariables and 3D shapes. I didn't need anything from Calc 3 for DE, but I would just finish the calculus series before moving on.

calc 1 and 2 are basically a continuation of each other...limits, derivatives, integrals (anti-derivatives).

Calc 3 is on it's own mostly, vector calculus and calculus in higher dimensions

Calc 4/Diff Eq is on it's own mostly as well, it helps to know general anti-derivative forms though, so if you can't remember Calc 2, take this first.

Going to DE from Calc 2 would help in so far as integration is still quite fresh in your mind, and that's a fundamental step for doing differential equations.

If you do Calc 3 first, you'll start doing a bunch of multi-variable integration which is good too, and this may strenghten your integration as a whole, or it may make you lose a bit of focus when you start doing other things in that class.

I can see it being helpful either way. I honestly don't remember learning anything in Calc 3 that I really needed for DE. For that class you just need to have strong integration skills, know a bit about taylor series and you'll do a bit of laplace transforms, though you don't always learn that in calc 2 or 3 anyway.

calc3 definately helped me understand integration better, so i'm glad i took it before DE.
