I need some suggestions regarding the value of the Xmit Power in DDWRT. The default is 28Mw but I have put it on 50Mw to be able to connect users in the 2nd Flr. Is this good or bad for the router? WRT54GL v1.1 & WRT54G v2.2 with Linksys 7dbi High Gain Antenna.

Also, while browsing for the net for answer about the xmit power, I stambled on this topic about routers that has 2 antenna. It seems that the router is change its TX & RX from left or right depending on the signal thats its get?

http://www.linksysinfo.org/for...showthread.php?t=54299 (1 vs 2 Antenna)

This is where I want to ask about DDWRT Antenna Positioning. Which is better for TX & RX? TX = Right & RX = Left? or vice versa? or just keep it on Auto?

Currently it is on Auto but the users in the 2nd Flr says their signal is swinging up & down from time to time.

Just want to know the consensus. ^_^

WRT54G with DDWRT running 150mw :p. Have done it for a month. Doesn't get much warmer then normal, and that's streaming video.

Running above 70mW (give or take) is useless.

The WRT54G is designed around 30mW. Boosting the signal of a Unit that was designed for such low power boosts the Noise together with the signal.

Wireless communication is more about Signal to Noise Ratio, rather than "brute" Signal strength.

As a result most of the play around (that are done by following principles from pushing Video frame, and OC) do not yield better result to begin with because Wireless communication has different variables the "game play?" is different.
