I picked up a DDS-1 tape drive from a garage sale for a few bucks. It looks like it works and all, its SCSI interface, and it shows up and registers and everything with all my other SCSI devices on bootup. WinXP also recognizes it. But being a DDS-1 format drive, it's a pretty old drive. I've only been able to find DDS-2 media. When I insert the tape, the drive will accept it, and attempt to read it, the green access light on it will blink for 5 seconds or so. But then after that, it will just spit it back out. Common sense would lead me to think that the drive will not accept the tape because the tape is not DDS-1, am I correct in assuming this? And if so, is there any way to format the DDS-2 tape to DDS-1?
Thanks.
Thanks.
