DDR400 vs. DDR2 800

I have DDR400@2-2-4-8 1T. Most DDR2 800 run at much higher cas settings. Is there a real difference between the two?
System😱pteron 144@2.8, Asus A8n-e mobo, 2-1gb Corsair memory, Nvidia 7600GT GPU.
 
yes, big difference, the speed for one. you are talking about 2 different speeds of memory. does that board support both?
