ddr400 memory not working on p4 systems

I was donated a bunch of P4 systems, but were missing memory. I tested them all with the few ddr333 chips I had. no issues.

I bought some ddr400 thinking if anything they would just downclock, but none of the machines are booting with the memory installed. they power up, but just sit there, no posting, nothing..

ideas?
