Wow, the Corsair Vengeance Blue ram in my sys went from $80 to $110.

I have no idea, except I wonder if the industry is transitioning to DDR4 or 5 perhaps? I keep hearing about DDR5 coming soon.

Could be just the industry trying to make a few extra $ as well I suppose.

Where do you keep hearing that? Even DDR4 won't be introduced in the consumer market until 2014. DDR5 will be several years after that

Well thank goodness i bought my ram in January for $85! $172 is an insane price difference! I jumped on them cause never saw 2x8gb @ CL9 timings for under $90 @ the time, now looking @ the 105% price hike im glad i did!

I actually bought another 8 GB recently since I doubt the prices will come down any time soon, and I want to avoid the situation I was in a few years ago when a memory failed and I urgently needed to replace it. (By then it was out of production and you had to give your right arm for a replacement...) It is still really cheap, and I think this increase is good because at the earlier prices some manufacturers must be losing money and would go out of business if things did not normalize.

WTF?

I was just looking at my Micro Center receipt from a new build on Dec 4, and saw this

297267 CRUCIAL 16GB 8X2 D3 1600 DIMM C9 1 54.99 54.99

I then went to crucial to check the latest prices as I was thinking about jumping to 32GB...

16GB kit (8GBx2) DDR3 PC3-12800 • 9-9-9-24 $139.99

That's insane. 155% increase in less than 4 months!

Edit: Just checked the Micro Center website and they still have part 297267 for $99.99. Only ~100% increase :D

ddr4 if its a server! get ready!

8gb server RDIMM ECC $60-65
16gb server RDIMM ECC $155-165 each

Love the 18 x 8gb or 24 x 8gb setup. Nothing beats a metric ton of ram! other than a metric ton of SSD to go with that.
