I want to pass on my 8GB of 667 DDR3 memory to my kids' computer, which has an Asus Berkley mobo. I looked on the web and it says that the motherboard can handle up to DDR2.

Is it possible for me to plug the DDR3s in and simply get DDR2 performance, or will it not work at all?

Well, this is what CPU-Z is reporting:

Oh, yeah, the base frequency or whatever.

DDR stands for "double data rate" - the marketed speed is double the base speed, because that's the effective speed when compared to old SDR SDRAM.

In other words, you have DDR1333.
