Ok, I have givin up the building of my own machines in lew of my 4 year old takes up my time. My question is this. I have a I7 machine with 3gb of DDR3. I just bought some more DDR3 to fill up the empty slots. Is this a smart move to load all the slots or should I get three sticks of 2gb and fill up only 3 slots.

So now is there is question of loss of tripple channel with the 6 1gb sticks. I would like some insight on this. thanks alot

You'll still be running triple channel but I believe it may affect overclocking tolerances. Additionally latency will increase from 1T to 2T. With integrated memory controllers, with so much bandwidth available, latency have an impact on performance (although it should be under 5%).

It's not smart or dumb, because you've already bought the 3 extra GBs of memory.
Live with what you have and spend the money on your 4 year old.

Oh, you didn't say it was OCZ memory... As long as it matches your current DDR3 in specs, you should be ok.

Didn't you say... "I just bought some more DDR3"? I assumed from that statement that you owned it already.
