DDR3 ECC in non-ECC P55 motherboard?

I have a P55 motherboard which does not purport to support ECC DDR3 (I certainly didn't expect it to), but I'm finding that 4GB DDR3 modules are much cheaper in ECC form: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820134978.

Will these modules work in a standard P55 mobo w/ i7-860?

Almost certainly they will not.

1. The P55 MBs do not support ECC memory (or "registered").
2. "Registered" memory modules are for use with server MBs.

You can buy the cheaper DDR3 DIMMs and use them on This Asus MB.

Those are Registered ECC, not your average unbuffered ECC. Won't work.
