DDR266 on a KT400 motherboard?

I've planning to get a KT400 mobo (Asus A7V8X). I've seen the tests with both DDR333 and DDR400, and I know that performance is generally better with DDR333 than with DDR400, but what about DDR266? DDR333 is still much more expensive that DDR266, so I'd rather not get it unless it's a large performance gain.

Thanks!

The RAM will 'Play-Down' fine, you will only see about a 5% lower performance by using the PC2100 (DDR266) instead of the PC2700 (DDR333). The "Feel" of my computer when I changed from the DDR266 to the DDR333 was negligable. Buy a quality brand like Crucial or Samsung and you'll have no problems.

Might even want to go direct to CRUCIAL, as they are Free Freight - Second Day Air.

I ended up getting 512MB Kingston DDR333 for $137 plus $0.50 shipping from GoogleGear.com. Is that good? I kind of had this idea in my mind that I would only buy RAM direct from Crucial.com, but it was much cheaper to get what I got (may be a special sale, but I'm not sure.)

Not a bad deal I bought two sticks of the same from newegg for $128 w/free shipping about 2 weeks ago. Memory prices are on the rise again so that's just about right.

Only you can be the judge of what you got performancewise, but THIS ADVISORY may help you evaluate what you have. I don't think that the Samsung I installed performs as well as the Crucial I took out, and I am in the process of replacing my Samsung PC2700 with Crucial PC2700.
