DDR2: why, when, and how much?

Err, since you almost NEED an AMD system for gaming, since the kick Intel's ass, then you need DDR currently, since AMD only use DDR until they release Socket M2 (which is some time away, at least 4 months I reckon).
DDR2 is already fairly widespread, but only usable with an Intel proc, which isn't much good for games.

DDR2 is horrible. Have you seen the timings on those modules? Plus the prices are just too stupid to make sense.

Socket M2 is going to be AMD shooting itself in the foot. Mark my words, they will be seeing heavy losses for the major part of next year.

i agree that amd is better than intel in games, and just about everything else now, and yes my next machine will be a amd. when i built my current machine intel pwned amd at encoding and that is what i needed it for.

anyway i am sure if you put a 7800gtx in a intel machine it would still have an insanely high fps.
