Can DDR2 3200 Ram be mixed and matched with a DDR2 4300?

I have 1gb PC3200 DDR2 ram but looking to upgrade to 2 gb possibly.

These have to be upgraded in pairs.... I believe, but do I have to match the speed and timing as well ?
 
I don't think you have to, but I do know that mixing memory of different speed/timing results in all memory running at the slowest speed/timing.

It's best to use memory of the same brand, speed, and timing.
