DDR2 RAM and Motherboard Compatibility

I'm trying to decide what DDR2 ram to buy for MSI K9A Mobo. I've read that a lot of the DDR2 ram is particular when it comes to mobo compatibility. I've tried to check MSI's cite to find what RAM is approved for the K9A, but couldn't find anything. I'm not expecting you to tell me what to buy, but if anyone could give me some guidance as to things to look for or direct me to some resources I'd appreciate it. I'm looking to get 2 x 1GB 800 or 667 and I don't plan to oc. I just want something that will run without problems.

Yeah, I had fits with my Asus m32n? board.

My first sticks were OCZ gold. no worky. Turns out the memory needed a bios upgrade. They sent a second set out. no worky..different error. Finally the tech guy took a set of OCZ platinum sticks into the back room where he had my actual mobo and tested it then sent me. Worked.

soooo...

Although I had some trouble with them I would still recommend: Call OCZ, tell them your mobo and see what they recommend.

Other brands/models may work fine I'm sure but I really got the impression that OCZ has been testing the crap out of this DDR2. With the limited number of DDR2 boards available I think they should have one of yours.

I was thinking about going with that Asus board, but read on Newegg that it was real testy when it came to memory. I am hoping the K9A will more accepting, but I'm hesitant after reading all the problems people have with DDR2 not working in their boards. They say make sure your RAM is approved for your motherboard, but I'm not sure how to do this.

I'm suprised you recommend OCZ after having read all the negative posts hear and elsewhere. I guess as a last resort I could always call or email and just ask them.

The only reason I'm recommending OCZ is their tech support impressed me. It's tough for a tech to turn around a hot customer but he did.

No hold times, got through to a guy who knew his sh1t right away.
