I found DDR2 256MB PC4200 for $35.

I'll be overclocking my athlon 64 3000+ so this faster memory would help so i wouldnt have to overclock my ram.

Would 4x 256 MB run much slower than 2x 512 DDR PC3200? The 4x 256 would cost me roughly the same amound as the 512x2 PC3200 memory.

So, is there a big difference between 256x4 and 512x2??

Btw, my motherboard will be a DFI Nforce4 lanparty ultra without SLI. So would the 4x256 take advantage of dual channel?

Edit: The DDR2 pc4200 doesnt seem to have a name on it so im guessing its generic

Uhm, DDR2 isn't the same stuff as normal DDR, no AMD64-based chips support DDR2 yet AFAIK. It's only used for 915/925 LGA774-based P4 systems right now.

If you want to overclock, do yourself a favor a DO NOT get 4x anything when it comes to RAM. Try to use only 2 dimms, 2x512 or something. Too many stability problems when all 4 banks filled.
