DDR2 - Dual Channel VS. Single channel

Need to buy Ram. Which option is best. Dual channel with 512x2 or 1GB(upgrade to another 1gb in future)

I once read that the performance difference between DDR and DDR2 was minimal, so I would go with a stick of 1GB DDR and buy another stick in the near future.

Thoughts? Lolgloin missed the point.

I'd go 1x 1gb and then upgrade later, i did advise budget RAM but you're buying a P4 so that's not so straight forward.

Dual channel != DDR2.

Single channel != DDR.

Dual channel adds about 2 fps average to Aquamark3, and it's 2 seconds faster on SuperPI 1M. Thats all the data I have for you

Keep in mind you usually need the exact same DIMM models for dual channel, so it might be safer to just splurge and get the 2x1GB at once.
