Could anyone say what would be the advantages/disadvantages of using ddr2 vs ddr3? I ask this because I am planning to purchase a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P to use with an E6850 but would want to upgrade to the E8500 when they arrive in the new year. Both will be overclocked. I am not sure how the E8500 will perform with the ddr2 memory which the DS3P only supports. I am a little skeptical about purchasing a ddr3 mobo combination at this time because of the ddr3 price, and I fear that price will not drop in the near future.

Many thanks.

Get DDR2 board. DDR3 will not be affordable for at least another year. Most DDR2/DDR3 are bastards anyway.

Thanks for the link capt. Good reading and very informative. Was contemplating a board with dual support for ddr2 and 3 for a moment there until serpent dashed them aside. Will still have a look at one or two though. Any suggestions serpent? Who might have the best of these dual support boards?
