So I've had old 512mb pc2700 memory in my main rig (see below) for awhile until I recently put in new Kingston ValueRAM 1gb 512x2 pc3200. But now my computer freezes completly randomly and spontaniously. It will go for hours after a boot and other times only 10 minutes. It freezes even if nothing is running, its not software related. The monitor just freezes and the mouse is stuck on screen. The computer still runs though, it doesnt shut down. But of course I have to manuelly shut down when it freezes like this. But thats not the end of it, If I try to put in my older memory that used to run fine on this machine, the computer wont even boot on it. The machine will run, but the monitor gets no signal. I have an ASUS A8V and have not overclocked the memory. My question is just what should I do? I guess I have these options as I see it, but I'd really rather just fix the freezeing situation.
-Buy new memory (I have no idea what memory to get for my system though. Nor do I want to buy new memory after spending $250 on the new memory.)
-RMA the mmeory, maybe it came faulted. (I'l check on memtest tonight, however I ran at least 2-3 of it before and no problems)
-Buy new mother board (Possibly the abit or MSI nforce3?)
God, what should I do this is really not cool.
