Like many people on this board I have been trying to find a new motherboard....just when I think I have found one I seen a bunch of problem reports. The big question is should I wait for ddr to mature or stick with tried and true technology? Prices have come down on 1600 ddr memory but 2100 is still double. Is the improvement in speed worth double the price?
Now I just read about the new usb 2.0 standard being approved. It will allow huge transfer rates like ie1394. It should be a hit because you don't need an additional card (like firewire) to accept the digital data. External cd-rom burners could be near internal cd rom performance. Should I wait for the new motherboards that will have the usb 2 standard built in? I hear msi's next generation ddr board will have this feature. When?
Finally what about Palomino? In an earlier report Anand predicted they would start arriving at the end of the first quarter...we are almost there. The big advantage I see with amd's palomino core is that it would run much cooler and be less power hungry.
This is just food for thought.....you can keep waiting and never buy anything but if the newest technology is only a month or two away???
