DDR upgrade Question

Hey guys i got 2 * 256 banks of OCZ EL DDR PC-3500 Dual Channel and i want to upgrade to 1 GB with a new mobo and a new chippy, i want to maintain the dual channel. now can i mix the 3500 with 3200 ? Pls recommend a CPU. I currently have an AMD 2500 but it's too slow, i was thinking of a P4 but P4 is too hyped up. so what is it gonna be p4 or amd 64 ?
