Ive been using my cheap DDr soft pad for ps2 with no shoes, and i think it really is messing up my feet. Ive begun to use shoes on it, making sure it is flat and i dont scrape my feet on it. I think itll be ok, I just dont wanna drop $200 on a metal pad when i got a good one... anyone else have experiences with this?

One of my pads got killed by shoes. It was a crappy pad though. Is yours one of the soft pads with foam, or is it all like, plastic?

I stapled/taped my pads down to some plywood boards and then got some thin "sticky" rubber mats on the corners so they didn't move on the carpet.

if it's that painful use your shoes and if it breaks replace it. It's only like $15 used and I see them alot at gamestop and eb games used.

Why does it hurt your feet? Are you stomping on the arrows or something?

Shoes will tear up/break a soft pad sooner, but you can wear them. A Red Octane Ignition pad may be slightly more durable than a regular soft pad, or attaching your pad to a hard backing might help preserve it, unless you've got an Ignition already or something.

I bought a Cobalt Flux pad -- it's amazing. Very, very tough. I use shoes on it all the time.

You can make your own hardpads fairly easily. Just get a big piece of plywood with plastic wrap, wrap the pad to the board , get a staple gun and staple it down. It works great.
