Would someone please explain in simple terms what the differences in DDR SD and RD RAM is?

Please read this FAQ for an explanation of DDR SDRAM.

Essentially, DDR SDRAM is a double speed type of SDRAM. RDRAM is based on a completely different type of technology. It serialises accesses, using a high speed, narrow bus to get incredibly high bandwidth. How much of an explanation do you want? RDRAM can be quite difficult to explain.
