I would be interested to know if using DDR ram with a p3 Tualatin would provide a worthwhile boost when say recording TV or encoding DivX, compared to SDR ram ??

Nah. The whole P3 Line can't take advantage of DDR's (or RDRAM's) bandwidth because they aren't memory bandwidth hungry and because their fsb is allready being maxed out by SDRAM. Stick with your SDR platform

Stick with SDRAM. The Tualatin gains virtually nothing with DDR SDRAM, and in some cases actually loses performance depending upon the latency of the DRAM utilized.

If your running a dual processor Tualatin you might see a small boost, but even then it's typically under 5%.
It's not worth getting DDR over SDRAM on the P6 platform.
