DDR RAM Question

Okay, so here's my question. I am getting new RAM for my system. Should I get good quality name brand DDR 333 with 6ns memory modules or should I get generic DDR 400 with 5ns memory modules? I am looking at running the RAM at 266 and 333 speeds, and was wondering if the DDR 400 would be able to better handle higher settings (CAS of 2 or 1.5) if clocked down to those speeds than the DDR 333 RAM would? What are your thoughts?

Good DDR333 (name brand chips and a good PCB) will do 400.

So I would get 333 name brand over generic 400.

Also what is the price diff.?

Okay, thanks for the info. Let me re-state my question. If I buy generic DDR 400 5ns RAM that I believe is supposed to run at CAS 3 at the rated 400MHz speed, will I be able to set the memory timings higher, say to CAS 2 or 1.5, if I clock the RAM down to 333MHz or 266MHz speeds?

hypothetically you should be able to. except buying generic ram is a bad idea and often times the stuff isnt meant to be run at advertised speeds in the first place, so "down-clocking" and then using better timings doesnt work.

just get the brand name CAS2 stuff.
