a friend of mine is using a MS K7N2G-L(MS-6570G) motherboard built by MSI... he wants to know if he has 1 DDR pc2700 chip and 2 pc3200 chips will the computer read 1.5GB of DDR... the board has 3 slots for ram and he's just wondering if he can use the 2 different types at the same time

will it work?

figured ATOT was the best place to ask

Yeah but I don't think you'll have Dual Channel....you need to have the same in Slot 3 size wise as you have in 1+2....so if you had 512mb PC3200 and 2x 256mb PC2700 then it would work.

But...they do recommend matching the ram exactly if poss....ie 2x 512mb PC3200 (same manufacturer and module ideally) in slots 1 and 3.

This is an On Topic thread really, you should have posted in General Hardware, maybe the nice mods will move for you.
