hi all,
i have an asus A7V8X-MX SE mobo-supports 2gb of pc2700 ddr sdram.
was using ram of 1gb pc2700(dual bank)+128mb pc2100(single bank) before and just got a new 1gb ddr ram (dual bank) and plugged it into the system to replace the old 128mb ram and its been behaving weird after that... doesnt boot up properly or hangs, if windows is fine then suddenly reboots in the middle.
Ran CPUID and SPD shows following values :
Slot 1 - 1024mb, PC3200 (200Mhz) and in timings
table shows values for JEDEC 1,2,3
Slot 2 - 1024mb, PC2700 (166Mhz) and in timings
table shows values for JEDEC 1,2
does this mean the 2 ram sticks are out of sync ? i clearly asked the retailer for a 333mhz stick - which is PC2700 in other words right ?
Also, BIOS has ram value to SPD and shows total RAM as 1024mb-
are my DIMM slots is screwed up?
what can i do to fix the issue ? will changing BIOS to 166mhz help?
have an athlon xp 2600+ which is a 333mhz fsb CPU
so guessing pc3200 should downclock and be compatible to pc2700 right?
thanks in advance
