DDR Ram advice

I currently have an Asus P4P800 mobo, 2.4c ghz, and 512mb (one stick) of kingston pc2700 ddr ram. I started hearing about dual channel ddr ram and how you need two sticks of ram to enable it. Would it be better to trade in my current ram for 2 sticks of 256mb of ddr to enable dual channel? Would there be a big difference? Or what other ram combinations should I go for? I was thinking about getting pc3200, but I'm not sure if that's worth it either.

I'm also getting a Radeon 9700 pro in the next couple of days and I want to play half life 2, doom III and others down the line.

If i was you, i would try and sell off your stick of 2700 in the FS/FT forum or eg@y...

😉

And with that little bit of extra money grab some Corsair or Hyper X PC 3200 for about 100.00 per 512 stick...

Considering you said your getting a 9700 Pro i would get a gig for gaming purposes...

My Hyper X 3200 does 220 FSB... 2/3/3/6

Good Luck.

Bryan.

Just to double check quick question. I have a P4P800 mobo. I was wondering if

KINGSTON HyperX 184-pin 1GB Kit (2x 512MB) DDR400 (PC3200) DDR RAM modules, Model# KHX3200AK2/1G
Specifications:
Type: Kingston HyperX
Capacity: 1GB (2x 512MB
Speed: DDR 400 (PC 3200)
Latency: CAS Latency 2 (2-3-2-6-1T) Model#: KHX3200AK2/1G

is compatible with it. Those specs were taken from newegg by the way. Thanks!!

ALSO: what's the difference between regular kingston ram and hyperx ram? THanks!
