DDR perfromance

i know that ddr can run with a 133 FSB and a 166FSB, and suposedly you wont get any performance differerance if your processor doesnt have a 166FSB, what i was wondering is that how much of a performance upgrade will you get with the 166ddr matched with the new athlonxp that is supposedly going to have a 166FSB?

Well, considering that there aren't any 166FSB products on the market yet, any numbers that you could get would be a guess at best. I'd take a look at reviews around the net (Anandtech, Tom's Hardware, amdmb.com, etc.) and see if anyone has overclocked their FSB to 166 in any of those reviews. Other than that, if you really want me to hazard a guess, I'd say somewhere between 10-20%, depending on the application.

Hmmn, I was under the impression that DDR333 is slightly faster than DDR266, even on 266MHz FSB Athlon platforms.

Its only very slightly faster, and only on the KT333 chipset. The performance increase is about 2%.

IMO, I think the 133 to 166 will give about a 5% gain in benchmarks.

HardOCP would be a good place to look at to see if any 166 benchmarks. I know Anand did one when the Athlon XP rolled out or the Palimno (sp?) came out.
