basically i need a new motherboard fast, my KT7 died. then i got a kk266, it was so wierd with ram that out of 4 ram sticks only 1 worked, and my mushkin rev. 2 didnt. im running 3 of those same sticks now in my k6-2 500. so i took that board back. now i need a new board but not sure, is ddr worth it? ive got about 280 to spend on mobo and ram, but not sure would it be a good thing to move up to a ddr board, or find another kt133a board? also, if i get another kt133a which one should i get? and if i should get a ddr, which one is best for the price? thx ^^

Well since you need a board now to run your cpu might as well go ddr...what better time to upgrade when old mobo takes a sh^t on you...

Get the epox 8K7A or the MSI master and get 256mb pc2100 ddr at crucial...or perhaps pc2400 would give a bit more of an upgrade path for you...

However it is questionable whethet with the duron in any real performance will be gained or felt, especially with the ddr. You could lower the multiplier and get more fsb boost out of the duron with both of those boards listed...

can't you people do a search before you post? Damn... it seems like every time I come in here their is a new thread asking to DDR or not, or a new about Intel vs AMD.

SEARCH BEFORE YOU POST!!!!!!!!!

since you have the money, just go ddr...theres no reason not to and with ram prices so cheap you can pick up 512mb of ddr from crucial for about $120

No reason not to as prices of ram/mb are about the same with only an upside on performance increases as it matures.
Happy I did.
