DDR on DDR2 motherboard?

I'm currently in a transition of upgrading my pc.
I'm wondering if a DDR2 compatible motherboard can use DDR memory temporarily.
Btw, I'm not sure if DDR fits in DDR2 slot.

Yup, the notch is in a different place specifically so that you can't even do that by accident.
