Do DDR Motherboards Require DDR simm chips? I'd like to just put in my regular 100MH memory from my old motherboard and then get the DDR when I have more cash. Is this possible?

DDR motherboards require DDR-SDRAM, and cannot be used with any other type of RAM. I've looked at a lot of motherboards lately, and I thoguth I remembered a brand new one that had both DDR and regualr SDRAM slots on it, but I could be mistaken. It might have been a board based on the new ALi or SiS DDR chipsets, but can anyone confirm this? DDR is pretty cheap right now if you order through someone like Crucial you'll pay only the same amount as PC133, so you'll actually be paying a lot more for the MB than the RAM.

Personally, I prefer holding on to my old RAM. Having RAM means you can build another system in the future. :D

Allright listen up closly...
You can get yourself something like ASUS a7a266 with ALI Magik1 chipset and you can use your old pc100 ram there and then you can get some DDR and stick it in there (but you cant use both at the same time)... The only problem is ... The Ali at my personall d@mn opinion sux, and if I were you I would get myself DDR motherboard with AMD760 chipset and buy some DDR-sdram they price for a nice 256MB,pc2100 stick from Crucial is somewhere around $65 or so depending what kind of deal you got... so just get a new ram its cheap now... good luck:)
