I was playing around with some of the bios settings on me SK8V. I have DDR333, but it will let me set it to DDR400 with a ratio of 2:1. Does anybody know what that ratio means(instructions dont mention it)? There are a few other settings/ratios but I cant remember them off the top of my head, will right them down the next time I reboot. After i set it to DDR400/200mhz it still reports it as DDR333 in the bios, but i think it might just be reporting the type of memory. The DDR400 2:1 setting does make a few hundred point difference in 3dmark, so it is doing something.

Whats a good/simple/small app for determining mem speed? I dont feel like installing sandra for this.

Thanks
jason

These are the other settings
1:1 DDR200
4:3 DDR266
5:3 DDR333
2:1 DDR400

Can somebody tell me what the ratios are for?
Thanks

They're ratios of the FSB to the RAM speed. 1:1 means the FSB and RAM would run at the same speed... 4:3 would make the RAM run at 75% of the FSB.

Actually, in this case, it appears backwards? Looks like Memory:CPU FSB ratio here. Thats wierd though, never seen them listed that way.

whats the point spending the extra coin on DDR400 mem if DDR333 mem will run at 400 just fine? Or did I just get quality memory? They are infineon chips..

Seems like you have some hela-memory if this is the case. As far as windows programs that will tell you your memory speed, none come to mind, sorry.

EDIT: Try CPU-Z, www.cpuid.com
