Well folks, this all started happening when I giddily picked up the new Dance Dance Revolution Universe 3 a month or so ago for the XBOX 360. I had pretty much beaten Universe 2 awhile back (except Quest mode because well... I get bored with it). I won't get into how much I hate what they've done with DDRU3, because that's not what this is about.

So when I fired up DDRU3 for the first time and got past the rubbish new Game Mode, I was starting to dance it up, but something happened... I was doing really poorly. I mean, I almost failed a two step song. This is odd, because I was pretty decent in DDRU2 and this song was literally so easy and I knew I was hitting the steps properly (or at least good enough to not get a "Boo"). Whenever you hit an arrow, the arrow at the top of the screen kind of "flexes" to indicate that you hit that direction... well, the left one wasn't registering at all. When I hit the Down Arrow, the left and down arrow both flexed! Something is majorly wrong.

Well, could it be my dance pad? It is that cheap one you get with the DDRU bundles and well... they're not really very good. So tonight (or rather, very early this morning), I decided to hook up the pad to the my Media Server. Now that sounds a bit silly right? Not at all... my Media Server has StepMania CVS 4 on it right now with over 2000 songs... plenty more than I get paying $60 for a copy of DDR Universe. So I chose a decent song and went at it... I practically ace'd the song with ease! All the buttons registered with no hitch unlike on the XBOX.

Now, I saw this issue when I first started playing DDRU3 and to ensure that it wasn't my poor playing, I put DDRU2 in and fired up a song I had AAA'd (the highest score). I think I almost failed the song! Something is definitely wrong.

Now, my last hope was to try the dance pad that came with DDRU3... this pad is literally new and hasn't even been unfolded until this very early morning. Well, I just gave it a shot (on a pretty nifty song) and yet again... the Left arrow failed.

I have no idea what's going on... does anyone else have DDRU, DDRU2 or DDRU3 and could try it out? Everything is up to date (software-wise) on my 360.
