DDR, is it worth it?

I am planning on getting at least a 1ghz Thunderbird. Is DDR RAM going to be worth it? I do lots of 3d rendering, gaming, and will soon be doing novice animation. Is it worth spending that extra little bit of cash on the DDR stuff? Also what graphics card should I get- the GTS 2 Ultra, Voodoo5 6000, NV20, or one the really powerful Radeons coming out soon. This computer will be done towards Christmas time so I have lots of time to wait for new technology.

I'm going to wait and decide whether I want to upgrade to the DDR once I see some benchmarks. I can't wait, I'm pretty optimistic!!

If you already have a PC133 system, prolly not. If you're building a new machine from scratch (like I will in a few months), it's the logical route to go.

Don't have any system right now. Kinda thight on money. I am going to save and buy everything around Christames time. I am running my girlfriends Celery 566, with a Voodoo3. I recently sold mines to buy a better one. I like to plan ahead.

I would have to say that the majority of the people in this forum are looking to upgrade to DDR asap. Thank god that Duron/Thunderbirds are so strong so, I would hate to put DDR on an Intel.

That's a pretty expensive upgrade just for an extra 8-10fps in Quake3.

At least wait until spring when the all the manufacturers have their boards out and prices aren't as high as they will be when they first come out.
