Not really trying to NEF (like I need to try...) but I just HAD to say that I went over to Crucial's site today...and almost fainted! :Q $40 for a 128mb stick? Bah!

I knew I'd be upgrading and joining the 133FSB/DDR revolution one of these years, so I bought 512mb of PC2100 back in July 2001. It's still in the box they shipped it in. I'm really glad I purchased it back then...that's a lot less (like, $160 less!) that I have to shell out now.

*whew*

Just sharing. Have a great Friday night, you party animals!

I have 512 MB of Crucial registered DDR in my dual Athlon system. At one point I bought another 512 MB, but decided I needed the $60 more than I needed the RAM. So I sold it. Big mistake. :( It doubled practically overnight, one week after I sold it.

Blech.

Back in November I bought a gig's worth of 256 Meg PC133 Micron SDRAM for only $60.00 shipped from Dell. Before that I was sweating over paying $25.00 per stick. I did buy a bunch in anticipation of memory going up, I just wish I would have bought more DDR instead of plain SDRAM.

<< good choice. it just means the market is now actualy making money instead of loosing it. >>

Yeah, I knew it was a supply-and-demand thing, and that's why it was so cheap. We did get plenty of warning that it was going up. I know lots of folks stocked-up on it.

ViperGTS, that stinks! A week later, the price doubles. :( 512mb is pretty much enough for everything you do though, right?

Putting aside the fact that memory prices are cheap compared to that in the 90's, when will the price come down? I doubt it will be to the point where it was 60$ for 512mb of crucial, but when will it be available for like 45$?

I hope that DDR prices remain stable at the very least since I'm waiting, and waiting, and did
I mention waiting, for Crucial to start producing some PC2700.

Yep we sure did. That's why I stocked up. I've got a whole drawer full of it. Of course it's going for systems that I build for Clients and yes they do pay the going market price.

Sure, 512 MB is enough for me. But then again one 1.2 GHz TBird is probably also enough.

I bought a gig of PC133 from crucial for about 125 in december. Everything I work with digital video I am glad I did.

I bought two 256 sticks for $50 each back in Jul 2001. Within a week, the price dropped to $45, and after a month or two it was close to $30, which didn't make me feel too great about my purchase. But, that purchase is looking good now.
