ddr heat spreader question

Miramonti

Lifer
I've got some thermaltake heatspreaders to put on some ddr 2100 sticks. Should I use the two-sided tape strips that come with it or would it be more effective if I used the Artic Silver adhesive epoxy?

I just looked at some ram and it could be a real bear putting silicone over the chip leads on the sides to keep the silver from bridging them. The chips are so low and I'd have to keep the silicone off the top of the chip as well. 🙁

The DDR heatspreaders don't do much, may give you a couple more mhz on your bus speed if you're lucky. I got them almost free, that's the reason I have them.

Just use the double sides sticky tape, they don't give off that much heat anyway.
