DDR and PC100?

I'm attempting to upgrade my 800mhz system into the 1ghz range. I'm also trying to do it for less than $150. Hence, I'm looking at Athlon XP 1800 motherboard/cpu combos. The catch is that since I'm trying to do this cheaplyI don't want to have to buy DDR ram to replace my PC100 ram just yet.
So- two part question, 1) Is there a board of reasonable quality that will support both DDR and PC100, and 2) Does anyone have any suggestions for alternative motherboard/cpu combos that would give me the increase in processor speed and let me continue to use my old ram?

Thanks for any assistance!

(I'd rather avoid any onboard LAN, sound, video, etc)

Your main problem will be finding a board that allows you to run the CPU bus at 133 MHz with the RAM at 100. The other way round is often found, this one not so. Even if you do, performance will suck.

Your best option if you so desperately want to use that old DIMM: Use an SDRAM-or-DDR board (plenty around, most of them from ECS, the most popular being K7S5A), and a CPU with 100 MHz front side bus, read: a Duron, up to 1.3GHz. Onboard LAN is your friend because it takes load off the PCI bus, onboard sound can be used or ignored.
