This is an issue I've been battling for quite some time, and usually killing certain processes from Task Manager will unfreeze them.
By freezing I mean, when Excel is consuming a DDE link will the entire program will be unresponsive. You can't click on anything.
In the past I've always been able to kill the Java Update Scheduler to get Excel to unfreeze, this works 100% of the time without fail. So I uninstalled Java on a few computers to see if it fixes the problem, and now if there is a CMD.EXE window open the same problem happens.
I'd really like to figure out the root cause of these problems as it's very frustrating sometimes.
All machines in question are running XP SP3 all up to date with Office 2007 and all it's latest patches. They are all also 3ghz + Dual/Quad Cores with 4GB of ram, so I know it's not a performance problem.
Anyone ever have similar issues or know of any ways I can try to debug this problem?
