DD-WRT = Ridiculously slow?

So I just installed DD-WRT micro on my old Linksys WRT54G v5 in preparation for turning it into a bridge. I'm still using it as my main router until I pick up a new one tomorrow and wow this is slow. My speedtest results dropped from about 15mbit to about 3mbit. I also notice very high latency (several seconds to go from "connecting" to "waiting") and images seem to take forever. Does anyone have suggestions to speed this thing up?
