DD-WRT on WRT54G v2 Question

Ok, so I've just finally embarked on this DD-WRT firmware and my first attempt failed. I thought I picked the right one, but perhaps I didn't. I have a Linksys WRT54G (v2) that's about 4-5 years old or so. I have a Vonage adapter hooked into it so I use QoS settings with no issue and I figured that the right firmware to use is dd-wrt.v24_voip_generic.bin.

Did I totally miss the mark? If someone could point me to the right firmware that is reliable and stable I'd appreciate it.

My current Linksys FW is WRT54GV4.0_4.21.1_US_code.bin.

Thanks!

Try flashing it with the mini version first.

The stock firmware from Linksys on the WRT54G v4 won't accept a firmware image over 3MB in size (you will get the error: "Upgrade are failed!" if you try) so you will need to flash the mini version of DD-WRT onto the router BEFORE flashing the std or voip versions. (Remember to hold reset button for 30 sec after flashing mini version.)

I don't know what I am doing wrong. I can't get any of these to flash. I did hard wired with IE web interface. They all go maybe 20% and then say failed. Did the mini too.

Well, I got the Tomato running. Seems pretty nice and intuitive. Mainly, I only want to tweak and optimize my Vonage connection to get top priority.

That said, is the Tomato firmware significantly better than the Linksys firmware?

I run the tomato, works awesome uptimes and configuration seems better with this firmware over the default for sure.
