pretty sure there's a complete library of supported routers right on the DD-WRT website...

It's really for your router's safety... we don't care about you. :) That AC5300 is a NIIIIIICE router. I want one even though I don't need it or like how it looks. With DD-WRT you have to be DIY minded. We wouldn't want you to brick it.

By the way as sdifox mentioned, Merlin's firmware is awesome... also check out the newer ASUS's AiMesh firmware's for it. That's the future.

Sadly, it is hard to constantly adjust to new Realities.

DD-WRT (and the like) were life savers a decade ago.

These days No More.

I.e., if One needs something very specific that is not available on his/her New Wireless Router,s firmware, it makes more sense to specifically ask about the missing feature.

Otherwise it sounds like No a old timers "Knee Jerk Reaction", "I have a new Router where can I find DD-WRT" for it. o_O

Merlin will be a better choice than DD-WRT.

DD-WRT tried to support most of the routers on the market and make the code way too complex and hard to maintain, it's always buggy and in many times you have to try yourself and find a stable version.
